I have been slowly re-listening to the audio books of Harry Potter. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read or listened to HP, and each time I learn something new. There’s many themes and plots that are found in this one that are later mirrored in Deathly Hallows.
I booked this place with my bestie for our Scotland trip! I am so incredibly excited to read in that room.
My back is all out of whack again, so I am learning new stretches and exercise routines to help my back and overall health.
I haven’t seen this movie in over a decade. I remember attending San Diego Comic Con the year they previewed the trailer for this film. I remember thinking this movie was going to be awesome and change things, but I didn’t know that it would completely change the trajectory of the movie industry.
For those who don’t know me, when I am stressed I listen to the same thing over and over again. So, I am back to The Oh Hellos’ Live show in Boston. This past month has been stressful trying to find a roommate and just dealing with change, so this video has been a welcoming comfort.
A friend gifted me this and I am really enjoying it. It’s a bit silly, but don’t we all need that sometimes?
A friend of mine, Taylor Lyall, wrote a book. Read it!
I am in the in the middle of Isaiah, Kings, and Matthew and I am loving how much God is teaching me about Him through all of these books. I think one of the biggest lessons is just how faithful He is. I can depend on Him. And even if I don’t like the answer, I know that He is in control, and what He says He will do, He will do. I love that about Him. I also love that I am His. And He is mine. And it’s lovely.
It’s April. It’s time to get some words out of my soul and onto the screen, and maybe one day, paper.
The roomie is out. I have the place to myself for a month. LET’S DO THIS.
Me, at the laundromat, makeup free, bags under my eyes, looking haggard though it doesn’t reflect what’s happening on the inside of me. So, that’s good.
This has been my go-to live music to listen to whilst working. It’s empowering.
I booked a cabin with my best friend in the Scottish Highlands for my 32nd birthday. It’s named after the Tawny Owl, which I will be able to see and hear. My people. I am incredibly excited and thankful that I get to celebrate my favorite number in my favorite country in the middle of nowhere surrounded by trees and ponds, all of which will be in the winter so everything that scares me about these woods will be dead or in slumber. So, it’s a win win for me.
It’s been about six months, but I am back and taking this Udemy course from NT Wright and it’s fantastic. So many things I am learning that are blowing my mind. Connections I didn’t realize. I am just falling more in love with Scripture and with God through this class. I highly recommend it!
I am excited to teach at another Kindred, women’s ministry, event this month! I am a little nervous, as per usual, but I am also excited to just talk about God and how awesome He is and how much freedom we have in Him. If you’re in the Chicago area and you’re a lady and want to attend, let me know and I’ll give you the details!
This also marks off another item off my bucket list (Teach at Kindred, check!).
Yup, I’ve been re-watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Still one of my favorite movies.
I’ve been listening to this Icelandic worship band all week and I am in love. I didn’t even realize they were Christian when I first listened to it, but as I found myself worshiping Jesus I decided to look up the lyrics. Thanks to Google translate, I learned that it was worship music!
I’ve been slowly reading this series because it’s that good. I am nearly done and I am a bit sad about it.
Sam Sianis, the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern, and his son. He is the nephew of Billy Sianis, the man, the legend, behind the Curse of the Billy Goat. I got to meet him, eat an incredibly cheap burger, and hangout with other writers this weekend on a literary tour of Chicago. What a treat!
I am learning more about the legacy and culture of publishing and writing in Chicago.
I’ve purchased some new furniture for this room and I am excited to revamp this room!
The many faces of me. It’s hard taking a serious photo.
This movie is happy. I am a sucker for dancing and singing and a semi-realistic plot about relationships. La La Land, go see it.
Thanks to my friend Christian, I am now listening to Josh Garrels (I know I am late to the party on this one! I had heard some of his songs but never followed up. Shame on me – I was missing out!).
His words are beautiful. Here’s a snippet from the song I posted above:
“So much more to life than we’ve been told
It’s full of beauty that will unfold
And shine like you struck gold my wayward son
That deadweight burden weighs a ton
Go down into the river and let it run
And wash away all the things you’ve done”
Now that school is finally over, I am reading a lot! But what I am reading at the moment is Pierce Brown’s second book in his series, The Red Rising Trilogy. This man knows how to write.
5. Birthday Bucket Listin’
Record 5 new podcasts.
Done two so far…
I am learning and experiencing the gratitude that comes with leading. I am so thankful to be on the elder/leadership team at my church. I know this time is precious. I know that God has blessed me with 10 other people who strive to live lives of obedience, who encourage me and my walk, who make me laugh, and who teach me. I do not want to take for granted what God has given me – the ministries he has me working in, the people I am around, and the church He has called me to be a part of. The photo is of the Communion we took as a team last night. Thank you Lord.
Officially receiving my Certificate in Theology! Just waiting for it to come in the mail and then I will celebrate! I will say I graduated with a 3.9 and I am in shock. God is good.
Visiting my family for Christmas! I will truly be home for Christmas. So weird!
Technically, I am listening to it. I have about 1.5 hours left and I am sad for it to finish. While I disagree with what he says about faith and Christianity, his perspective on South African culture is eye opening. I have laughed out loud, cried, and sincerely have appreciated my time in reading this book. I recommend it.
There’s many things to celebrate in December (birthdays, new babies, finishing seminary, New Believers Class ending successfully, new church building, etc.,) but I am going to choose the victory of getting to the gym today. It’s been weeks and I’ve missed it so.
I was a Panda for Halloween, and will subsequently be one all throughout winter because wow was this onsie warm and comfortable!
Watch out Ohio! I am coming your way this month to hangout with my bestie (pictured above, obviously that’s not us in Ohio.. .here’s Ohio).
This movie is one of the best ones I’ve seen all year. Watch it.
I am throughly enjoying this live show of The Oh Hellos. If you haven’t had the pleasure, I recommend a listen. They know what they’re doing.
I have been organizing and will be teaching some classes at my church. I am incredibly honored, excited, nervous, and you know, all the feels, about this.
I had a weekend of celebrating some birthdays and I am just so thankful to have such awesome friends in my life. This photo is a good depiction of some of the people who surround me and who have taught me so much about love, friendship, and God. I am truly a blessed woman.
